Voyage 251 Tahiti downwind to the Cook Islands
Dan Heywood sailed the trade winds westwards on Soren Larsen
through the Society Islands
The trip I took on the Soren Larsen was such good fun and a wonderful experience. There was laughs from the sunday night singings to swabbing the decks. I found it amazing how light hearted the crew was, who had a song and joke for a lot of moments.
I will remember most days on Soren for how much fun they were, especially the tarzan rope and the crew helping to teach me to do my first backflip, which I did.
The work as well I found was huge fun, from bracing the sails to going aloft. Also taking the helm made me feel like I was in one of the those pirate films which was a cool feeling.
I'm going to miss this experience and next time I get a chance to do it again I will.
Thanks to all the crew; Barry, George, Gareth, Maho, Carl, John & Jon, Alison & Alison, Cath, Miranda, Darren and Emma. Also thanks to the other voyage crew. Everyone made the days too short!
