News of Tallship Soren Larsen - Voyaging the South Seas February 2008

Dear Voyager

As we prepare Soren for her voyage to Easter Island and the passage onwards to Pitcairn and Tahiti we felt we should let you know of its significance.

This will be our last visit to or from this iconic destination for some years.. It will not feature in the shortened 2009 programme and if Soren undertakes a world trip after that we may not be back there until 2012... Below are options and a great offer for those able to join us for these two incredible ocean journeys.

The Soren experience seems to mean different things to different people - yet one thing remains constant ... a profound feeling of having been a part of something special and sharing an endeavour that few knew was still available.

We know our own memories earned on an Ocean crossing remain vivid for 20 years or more.

Soren Larsen is soon to set out on an incredible journey into Polynesia.. will you be aboard?

LAST CALL - for EASTER ISLAND ..and beyond

Voyage Crew for the passage to Easter Island are required to sign-on on Easter Monday 24 March at Auckland.

The 4500 nautical mile sail to Rapa Nui is followed by the our voyage into French Polynesia - on 2 May from Easter Island to Pitcairn and Tahiti.

If time is short you now can join V265 for the first half (V265A) Easter Is. to Pitcairn and the Marquesas, OR from the Marquesas through the coral atolls of the Tuamotus of French Polynesia to Tahiti (V265B).

IF time is no object (and why should it be) and you can combine V264 Auckland to Easter Island with V265 onwards to Tahiti then we can offer a Special Combo Offer for new bookings - so if you can act quickly we strongly recommend that you contact us asap as its an opportunity not to be missed...

CREW TUBE
'Sailin on the Soren'
Voyage Crew Steve Banister wrote and sings this jolly ballad to the ship and crew of the Vanuatu Discovery voyage. Quite brilliant.
[!Warning: Rated R9: contains lyrics that some may find Catchy]

REFIT MADNESS
Its that dry dock time of year. Soren is undergoing one of the most intensive times of her year - the annual haul out of the water for hull inspection and maintenance. The hull sheathing is being taken off and checked, deck planks are out, yards are down, the main engine is in a 1000 pieces. This is where your money goes...

HELP THE SHIP
Many ask us how they can help Soren continue her voyaging even if they can't join a voyage themselves this year - apart from forwarding this to 3 friends. Well if you have pictures, or a recommendation to share then please pass comment at any of the major travel forums online : Go Wander or Lonely Planet's Thorntree, or TravelBlog or Travelpod or IgoUgo - and you may know others. WHEN IN SYDNEY
Do get out on the Harbour by tallship.
Long time Soren shipwright and skipper Marty Woods has recently bought Tallship 'Svanan' . By far the best way to enjoy Sydney, when on your way to NZ.
