Salhelm1 small.jpg (25054 bytes)Here First Mate Sally Andersen commences her Web Log, her account of the voyage from the deck:It was all aboard at Fowey for Falmouth to ride out more wild weather there.
Departed am 7th – Strong wind and exciting sailing over the first few days. The fish were well fed across the Bay of Biscay, it must be said. However, blue skies and blue seas and whales sighted just in time for the First Mate’s birthday on the 11th!
Beautiful sailing down the Portuguese coast: Northerly Force 2 – 3 and then some motor sailing while we became becalmed. Now steering for Madeira. There are talks on the sails and sail handling going on the main deck and we’ve spotted Pilot whales…All along there’s been yummie food coming out of the galley with the Cooks ecstatic with their new toy - fantastic crispy spuds!
Peter the Engineer is also a happy man with the water maker and the Alpha main engine going well.As at 12th Nov – Westerly Force 5 which we’re using well and the new crew have settled into the ship’s ocean routine well and the Voyage Crew all enjoying the blue water sail.
